Profiles:
Brian
Nerney, Chief Executive:
The
Chief Executive of the Roscommon Herald is Brian Nerney. With
over 25 years experience in the newspaper industry, the company
has gone from strength to strength under his stewardship. After
attending Athlone RTC and the School of Printing, Bolton Street
Dublin, Brian joined the family business and has grown the company
over the years. After joining with TCH in June 2004 Brian has
continued in the role of Chief Executive.
A
native of Boyle, Brian is married with three children. He is very
much involved in the community life of the town and is eager to
see it progress further. He is a past President of Boyle Chamber
of Commerce, indeed the only person to hold the officership for
two successive terms; past Chairman of Boyle Round Table; past
Chairman of the Carrick Road Residents Association and current
Secretary of the Termon and Warren Land Trustees; Treasurer of
Boyle Minor Board GAA and a member of Roscommon County Councils
Strategic Policy Committee on Planning and Development. One of
the original promoters of Shannonside Radio, Brian is also a Commissioner
for Oaths and a Peace Commissioner.
Apart
from his love of the media industry, Brian has a great interest
in sport, in particular Gaelic games and cycling. He has represented
his county and province at under age level in cycling over the
years.
Brian is proud of his native town and area. “We are close enough
to avail of the city of Sligo yet far enough away to be able to
escape the pressures of modern living. And with a facility like
Lough Key only five minutes drive from your house, why would you
want to live anywhere else,” Brian asks.
