A few weeks ago, Eugene McGee wrote in his column in the Irish Independent how a county minor player was asked to attend a training session the night before he started his Leaving Cert exams. He didn’t turn up for training. Later that night he received a text message from the county manager to say that he had been dropped off the panel.
